I'm camping with the Brownies this weekend. Thank God it's cabins and bunk beds.
But I'm in charge of campfire songs and skits. It has been a while for me, so I need your help.
What are your favorite campfire songs?
Do you remember any silly skits? All I can think of is "Pebbles in the Lake."

Do you remember "Make New Friends But Keep the Old"? That one always reminds me of my Brownie years. Do they have a website? Surely they have many ideas available online. It is the new millenium after all.
Go here for skits: http://www.girlscouts.org/program/gs_central/activity_ideas/icebreakers.asp
OH! I've got something in my pocket it belongs across my face... Remember that one??
Try this for lyrics: http://www.gsleaders.org/files/songindex.htm
Hope that helps! Why I got so into this I'll never know. I guess I enjoyed Brownies more than I thought!
What about that song...Can A Woman? to the tune of She'll Be Coming a
Round the Mountain?
Don't know the name of it.
In a little cabin in the woods, little bitty man by the window stood, saw a rabbit hopping by knocking at my door. "Help Me Help Me Help," he said, or the hunter will shoot me dead. Hurry Hurry come in side, happy we will be.
All with hand motions of course.
My Tall Silk Hat is another good one.
I like the "One Frog" game. It was a standard with I was girl scout camping. I'm not sure Brownies will get it, but you can try.
The girls sit around the campfire circle, with a leader, you to start. The girls keep the beat with a hand-clap/thigh slap.
The leader says "one frog"
girl next to her says "two eyes"
third girl says "4 legs"
fourth girl says "ker-plunk"
fifth girl says "in the pond"
leader starts again without missing a beat "two frogs"
4 eyes
8 legs
ker-plunk
ker-plunk
in the pond
in the pond
back to the leader with "3 frogs" and so on.
The girls have to count the frogs, eyes, legs, ker-plunks and in-the-ponds and if anyone messes up they go around to the end of the circle and everyone scoots down a slot. It's a lot of fun and the girls soon learn to count for themselves so they can point out everyone else's mistakes.
Thanks friends!
I printed up lyrics - even to "Can a Woman" off the website Candy mentioned.
And I'm printing off Ker-Plop.
My only break in the brownie bonanza will be to go play in my son's parent-child lacrosse game. I can't possibly do worse than last year.
